My Story
Throughout my life, I have approached music with passion, enthusiasm and desire to share. This passion and drive have paved the way to many opportunities, unique experiences and exceptional relationships both personally and professionally. MORE ABOUT JONAS CARLSON
Born and raised in Sweden, the cellist, pianist and conductor Jonas Carlson has performed on radio and television in Sweden, US, Canada, and Brazil. In addition, he played the part of the young cello-playing composer Willibald Gluck in a co-production between German, British and Swedish TV to commemorate the composer on his 200th anniversary. His orchestral experiences include work in highly acclaimed orchestras such as Gothenburg Symphony, Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and Uppsala Chamber Orchestra under conductors such as Neeme Jarvi, Michel Plasson, Hugh Wolff among others. In 1997 Jonas Carlson, as a substitute principal cello, performed with chamber orchestra Musica Vitae at the televised opening ceremonies of the Swedish Parliament in the presence of the Royal family.
Jonas Carlson has performed in excess of 350 chamber music concerts in Scandinavia, US, and Canada both as a cellist and a pianist.
Formerly the adjunct professor of cello at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Jonas Carlson is since 2005 Director of Academy Orchestras at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Jonas Carlson earned his doctorate in cello performance at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis under the tutelage of Tanya Remenikova.
